Born in Israel in 1955, Salah Alkara grew up in the Druze village of Daliat El Carmel on Mount Carmel. Without any formal training, Alkara became an expert painter with total control of his technique and a unique abstract style.

As a child he would visit the nearby artist’s village of Ein Hod, where he later apprenticed and learned from several local artists.
