Jael Caliman is a surrealist artist who works mostly in acrylic paint. Ever since she could hold a pencil she always has been interested in art. After receiving some training in graphic design, she changed direction in her schooling and she used those skills to enhance her painting skills. Resulting in her first Solo Show in 2020.
A principal theme in her paintings is that each of her characters has no real identity the idea is unlocking the power of the viewers imagination and embark on a journey of self-reflection. Picturing themselves in the place of each character. Capturing the ethereal essence of youth, her paintings serve as a timeless reminder of the beautiful naivety that can fade with time.
Within each carefully crafted piece, lies an invitation to find personal significance and embrace the beauty of interpretation. She loves using surrealism because it allow her to be “irrational,” when creating her paintings.
